Wing of St Mawes owner Rob Wing is delighted to announce a second
Objective 1 fisheries grant for £1,630 that will provide equipment
to test whether fish waste can be turned into a food product.
The grant will fund a specialist pump, which is a part of the
production process to turn fish waste into a fish stock for cooking.
If the trial is a success it will provide financial value for every
part of the fish bought by the company including fish heads, bones
and skins.
Alison Elvey Objective One Fisheries Programme Manager stated, "Ensuring
that every part of Cornish fish is fully utilised is of benefit to
both the fishing industry and the Cornish Economy. Developing a
process for producing fish stock is an excellent way of adding value!"
Rob Wing, owner of Wing of St Mawes added "We are very
excited to be pioneering in Cornwall a project that will turn fish
by-products into high quality fish stock. We believe that all
possible value must be extracted from fish landed in Cornish ports".
