WING
SECURES OBJECTIVE 1 GRANT
7th March 2002
Cornish based
fish merchants, Wing of St Mawes Ltd, have been successful in securing
a £2,360 Objective 1 fisheries grant to buy new ice machines
for their factory at Indian Queens.
By providing
the company with a new ice making facility, the company can ensure
its product is kept at the highest quality. This is a priority as
each fish landed by Cornish vessels must gain as much value as possible.
Currently ice is purchased from Newlyn which causes problems with
transportation due to fuel costs and the ice melting on route to
the factory.
Alison Elvey, Objective 1 Fisheries Programme Manager commented,
"Projects which improve the quality of the product are a priority
of the Objective 1 programme. The provision of ice facilities to
fish merchants and processors will assist local companies meet high
quality standards and gain the maximum financial yield per fish."
Robert Wing of Wing of St Mawes stated " We are delighted to
have won Objective 1 funding for this project.
Wing of St Mawes processes local fish for dispatch daily. Increased
production will guarantee freshness and quality for our customers,
both county and nation-wide".
