FALMOUTH & NEWLYN FISH PROCESSOR ADDS SKINNED FISH TO THE MENU
August 2001
A Falmouth based
fish processor, Falmouth Fishselling Company, has been given an
Objective One fisheries grant to invest in a new skinning machine.
The company specialises in providing high
quality filleted fish to its customers throughout Europe. The new
skinning machine will increase the efficiency, quality and
appearance of its filleted fish, which will help secure and expand
its customer base.
The project will also benefit the local
fishermen by adding value to approximately 50% of its product range
ensuring that prices at auction are maximised for the local fleet.
The project will create one extra job for the company.
Alison Elvey, Objective One Fisheries
Programme Manager, stated, "Every
bit of value added to locally landed fish will help Cornwall’s
fishing industry as a whole. Small projects like providing a
skinning machine can help merchant secure customers and grow their
businesses and so such projects should be encouraged."
Mark Greet from Falmouth Fishselling added "We
are very encouraged by the help received from the objective one
scheme. This project will enable us to expand our added value output"
