LARGEST
FISHERIES GRANT YET AWARDED TO FALMOUTH FISHSELLING COMPANY
July 2003
Falmouth Fishselling Company Ltd Managing Director Mark Greet is
delighted to announce an award of almost £350,000 to purchase and
modernise a new fish processing unit in Redruth. This new unit will
allow the Company to process more locally caught fish.
This will not only provide a bigger
site for processing but also create new jobs and better working
conditions for the existing workforce.
The new factory will provide the Company with premises to install
state of the art hygiene standards and systems which ensure fish
quality is maximised and Cornish fish is sold in top condition.
Falmouth Fishselling Company Ltd was established in 1979 and has
also established Fresh from the West under the Falfish umbrella in
January 2002 to provide retailers with fresh local supplies of fish.
This company has also received an Objective One Fisheries grant for
over £16,000 to purchase weighing and labelling equipment, which
enhances the Company’s traceability systems.
Mark Greet, MD of Falmouth Fishselling Company Ltd commented "This
move to Cardrew Industrial Estate will provide a first class fish
processing facility enabling Falfish to produce an extended range of
fish and shellfish lines."
Alison Elvey, Objective 1 Fisheries Programme Manager added "It
is great to see a Cornish Company taking this leap to new premises
with the help of Objective 1 funds. The project will meet the
strategic objectives by ensuring Cornish fish remains top quality
and new markets are found."
