The ‘Fish Forever’ campaign is to join the Truro Primestock Show
on Wednesday 3 December on Lemon Quay. A dedicated marquee will
feature all things fishy and invite everyone in Truro to take part
in its fish experience. Building on the success of fish events
earlier this year at the Royal Cornwall Show, Newlyn Fish Festival,
Newquay Fish Festival and the Falmouth Oyster Festival, it is now
Truro’s opportunity to learn more about fish.
The ‘Fish Forever’ campaign, funded with Objective One monies and
supported by Sea Fish Industry Authority is promoting fish through
cookery and preparation demonstrations, a wet fish display and on
site fish merchant.Cookery demonstrations, starting at 10am, will be
in a ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ style featuring chefs from local
restaurants such as Caf
é Citron,
Mannings and Saffron in Truro and the Bolingey Inn near Perranporth.
Visitors will be shown how to prepare fish including filleting and
how to ‘pick’ a crab.
Cornish Cuisine, the award winning smoke-house from Penryn will
have delicious smoked salmon for sale. The wet fish display showing
a wide variety of locally landed fish will be auctioned at 5.30pm in
aid of the Fishermen’s Mission and Duchy Fish Quota Company and
their "Naked Fishermen’s" calendars will also be on sale with guest
signings by Mr May.
‘Fish Forever’ events organiser Fiona Osman said ‘"we have had
such good feedback from people attending our events earlier this
year, especially those who enjoyed tasting the dishes. It really is
a great opportunity to learn more about the fantastic variety of
fresh fish available and landed in Cornwall, how to prepare it and
cook it. We are trying to take the "fear factor" out of fish and
encourage more people to include fish on their weekly menu".
Come and enjoy the day’s events at the ‘Fish Forever’ marquee,
Wednesday 3 December 10am – 6.30pm on Lemon Quay.
